EJC offers free class at Freed Community Center

Your Embody Joy teachers will run a 6-week pilot of Nia classes in Spring Branch, beginning July 1st. Classes will be every Wednesday until August 5th at 10 AM at Freed Community Center, 6818 Shadyvilla Lane.

We are offering this series free of charge to participants under the banner of “Moving To Aliveness” - generously underwritten by The Grose Family Foundation, led by our beloved student and friend Nellie Grose. The aim is to introduce Nia to a broader population, to get more people moving in their body’s way, sensing joy and aliveness. Based on the Nia Technique’s Moving To Heal program, this series will appeal to people who may prefer or need a less intense workout practice, but who will nonetheless benefit from a holistic movement experience that promotes flexibility, agility, mobility, strength and stability in a safe and welcoming setting.

Freed Community Center is managed by Harris County Precinct 4, under Commissioner Leslie Briones, and we hope to attract “locals” who may not feel comfortable or welcome in a typical fitness class. The class is open to the general public, including our current students. You don’t have to be a resident of Precinct 4 to join in, and in fact, we would love to have some of our regular students come along to woo those new to Nia. Stay tuned for ways to register - or just show up a little before 10 AM any Wednesday July 1 to August 5, at 6818 Shadyvilla Lane.
